Mike joined Barclays in September 2021 as Managing Director, Head of Operational Risk, Americas. Mike has enjoyed a 25 year career in banking and financial services and prior to joining Barclays was Head of Operational Risk at CIT Group, a regional commercial and retail bank. At CIT Mike was responsible for the firm’s Enterprise Operational Risk Programs, Risk Identification and Risk Appetite Framework. In addition, Mike had firmwide responsibility for Issues Management, Regulatory Remediation, and the firm’s GRC System. Before joining CIT, Mike was SVP, Head of Risk Programs for the Consumer Lending Group at Wells Fargo and worked at JP Morgan Chase as Executive Director of Global Regulatory Strategy. Mike spent most of his career at RBS in both the UK and USA. He has held leadership roles in both the Retail Banking Business and Corporate Functions, including Branch Management, Operations and Product Development. Mike is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers Scotland and holds a Masters Degree from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.
